The Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies Program at the University of Louisville is pleased to partner with the Speed Museum to host an Iranian Film Festival from January 11 through February 22, 2009. This festival will introduce films that are well known internationally and offer glimpses into the daily lives of ordinary Iranians. In a couple of weeks the Speed Art Museum will close the largest exhibition it has ever hosted, Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness: American Art from the Yale University Art Gallery. This must- see exhibition includes drawings, prints, photographs, furniture, silver, and ceramics from Yale University’s renowned collection of 18th- and 19th-century American fine and decorative arts including John Trumbull's painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and silver crafted by Paul Revere.
Kendal R. Miller of Photography by Kendal will be the featured artist at Signatures of Switzerland County during the Vevay Main Street Jan. 2 “Happy New Year” First Friday event.
Miller will show new works, including new local and area landscapes and nostalgic memorabilia. She will also demonstrate the art of hand-coloring photographs with pencils—now more often done by computer.
