Historic Frankfort Avenue will host a Mardi Gras themed F.A.T. Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, January 30th from 6:00pm to 10:30pm. The highlight of the evening will be the Mardi Gras Ball, which will be held from 8:00pm to midnight at the Mellwood Art Center and sponsored by Margaret’s Consignment. The Ball will include Reva Deveraux as MC, dancing to the Cajun sounds of Crushed Velvet, a best mask contest, and door prizes including a trip for two to New Orleans. Admission to the Ball is only $3, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the United Crescent Hill Ministries.

“Oil and Water” is the newest art exhibit at the Jewish Community Center’s Patio Gallery. The Patio Gallery, located in the lobby, is the elegant setting for imaginative exhibits featuring the innovative artwork of locally, nationally and internationally recognized artists. “Oil and Water” is comprised of both oil and watercolor paintings from a local husband and wife team, Patricia Ritter and George McCracken.

Kendal R. Miller of Photography by Kendal will be the featured artist at Signatures of Switzerland County during the Vevay Main Street Jan. 2 “Happy New Year” First Friday event. Miller will show new works, including new local and area landscapes and nostalgic memorabilia. She will also demonstrate the art of hand-coloring photographs with pencils—now more often done by computer.
