Splash! Water Exhibit Opening February 2009 Splash! is a new water exhibit in KidZone, our exhibit area designed specifically for children 7 and younger and their caregivers. The new exhibit replaces the popular water table, which was part of KidZone for over 20 years.

In the bountiful array of children’s literature, no author is better known and respected than the Greek story teller, Aesop. A former slave who was physically disfigured and suffered from a speech impediment, Aesop possessed a rare and valuable knowledge: he could read and write. By his wit and clever turn of phrase, he was freed by his master and became known for his story telling. Using animals as characters, he served up life lessons and morals in a tasty and digestible cupcake of a story.

The mid-South’s premier show for outdoor enthusiasts returns to the Kentucky Exposition Center for nine days of fun for the whole family. Attendees can shop for and book their next vacation, then visit hundreds of booths that showcase the latest in boating, fishing, hunting, camping and RVing. Special attractions include the Take Me Fishing Center, seminars from hunting and fishing pros, canine athlete competitions and the Kids Adventure Trail.

Infinite Riches in a Little Room is an exhibit of local artists who have participated in LVAA's Food for Thought program. A montly luncheon and lecture series. This is exhibit will run side by side with DinnerWorks 2009. Come and see an exhibit rich in culture and support your local artists! Exhibit is free and open to the public Monday-Friday 9-5pm and Sunday 12-4pm.

“Oil and Water” is the newest art exhibit at the Jewish Community Center’s Patio Gallery. The Patio Gallery, located in the lobby, is the elegant setting for imaginative exhibits featuring the innovative artwork of locally, nationally and internationally recognized artists. “Oil and Water” is comprised of both oil and watercolor paintings from a local husband and wife team, Patricia Ritter and George McCracken.

B. Deemer Gallery presents the latest series of landscape paintings by artist, Ellen Glasgow. A reception will be held for the artist on Saturday, January 10 from 2 - 4 PM and the exhibition will continue through February 17, 2009.

On the first Saturday of every month volunteers in Bernheim’s Training-for-Naturalists program lead fun and entertaining Nature Exploration Stations at the Visitor Center. Both children and adults enjoy the varied interpretations of the nature of Bernheim at these events. This “open house” program offers changing experiences each month. You might get to snuggle a snake, look a toad in eye, hear hidden stories in plants and trees, figure out the food chain, and discover a whole lot more about your connections with nature.

The Louisville Nimble Thimbles quilt guild is 28 years young and is dedicated to exploring the art of quiltmaking. All skill levels are welcomed and encouraged. We meet the first Thursday of the month at 6:30pm and the third Thursday of the month at 10am. Guest speakers, teachers and lecturers lead hands on classes and demonstrations which allow our members to learn more about the art of quilting.
