The Center for Photographic Studies was a Louisville alternative school for creative photography founded by C.J. Pressma in 1970. As a conscientious objector the Vietnam War, Fritz Klemperer began serving his two year alternative service in Kenya. He joined the merchant marine, drove an ambulance and taught school. Since then, Klemperer has returned to Kenya six times in over 40 years. Klemperer is a psychologist who lives with his wife and three children in Berea, Ohio.

The exhibition will explore the park's beginnings as a boat landing in 1814, through the Great Depression and the Great Flood of 1937 to the 64-acre attraction's demise amid the effects of urban flight and racial tensions of the civil rights movement. Utilizing heat, gravity, and time students will create an array of fused and slumped creations. This is a great class for people interested in learning the technical basics of kiln working. Learn about scoring glass, melting temperatures, annealing, and many more technical tips. Tools and materials will be provided; however if students have glass cutting tools they are comfortable with they are welcome to bring them. No previous glass working experience is necessary.

In this two part class you will create an abstract design using small pre-cut pieces of glass. The next day you will grout your tray to finish your functional work of art. Each tray is 13 x 19 x 1 ½ inches. No previous glass working, tiling or grouting experience is necessary. Pieces may be taken after the second day and sealed at home.
