Friends for Hope is a non-profit organization created for the purpose of supporting adult cancer survivors, family members and caregivers through friendship, love and laughter. Monthly support group meetings are on the 1st Thursday of the month from 7-8:30 pm at Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive. Friends for Hope offers two weekend retreat camps, one in the spring and one in the fall. The 2009 fall retreat camp weekend is scheduled for September 11-13, at the Kavanaugh Enrichment Center in Crestwood. This exhibition consists of 25 rare, unusual and landmark motorcycles manufactured between 1900 and 1970. In addition to the motorcycles, memorabilia and accessories, “Wind in Your Hair -Vintage Motorcycles” will include visual artists’ interpretations of the freedom, movement and exhilaration that motorcycles have represented in our society and culture. KMAC will also present a series of restoration and customizing workshops, lectures about collecting motorcycles and the cultural influences of motorcycles in the 20th & 21st centuries.

In conjunction with the nation-wide celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s Bicentennial, this exhibition will take you on Louisville artist Ed Hamilton’s artistic journey to create the Louisville Waterfront Park Lincoln Memorial. The memorial features a young Abraham Lincoln reading a book. The exhibition will features early clay sculptures of the piece, plaster models, drawings, and the 12-foot final models of the Lincoln sculpture, as well as early sketches of the panels of bas-relief sculptures depicting scenes of slavery and Lincoln’s extraordinary life. Pressma in 1970. During its eight-year existence, the Center attracted students from over 35 states and foreign countries to its full-time resident program and provided instruction and darkroom access for hundreds of students in the Louisville area. Exhibit Description: Casey Hyland's glass art exhibit, "Wishful Thinking", will feature artwork produced over the last three years. Using silvered bottles, clear stones, thin steel rods with glass and bubbles inside bubbles, the artwork describes moments of gazing into the mirror at a bar, stacking stones, blowing wishes with a dandelion and playing with soap bubbles. As well, Casey will also install a hanging chandelier in Glassworks' main lobby. Entitled "Offering", the silvered glass sculpture is loosely inspired by Shel Silverstein's"The Giving Tree".

On May 16, the Frazier International History Museum opens Fontaine Ferry, a 3,800 square foot exhibition that explores this integral part of Louisville's history, just in time for the 40th anniversary of the park's closing. The exhibition will explore the park's beginnings as a boat landing in 1814, through the Great Depression and the Great Flood of 1937 to the 64-acre attraction's demise amid the effects of urban flight and racial tensions of the civil rights movement. The human form as a theme in glass art of all kinds is the subject of an exhibit at Flame Run contemporary art glass studio from February 6 to March 28. An opening night reception begins at 6 p.m. The show called “The Human Formed” was inspired by the work of Susie Slabaugh White, who owns the studio and hot shop with her husband, Brook White. Susie said she hatched the idea when she noticed human forms as a recurring theme in the work of glass artists she admired.
