For the first time ever in Louisville, dogs can join their caregivers in the fight against cancer through the American Cancer Society's Bark for Life. In the fashion of the American Cancer Society's signature fund-raising event, Relay for Life, humans and canines alike will join together in a non-competitive, one-mile walk to raise funds to support the Society's mission. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the walk begins at 10:00 a.m.

Louisville Metro Youth Detention Services will host a stuffed animal drive from August 1-31 to benefit Kosair Charities’ “Bears on Patrol” Program. In conjunction with the nation-wide celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s Bicentennial, this exhibition will take you on Louisville artist Ed Hamilton’s artistic journey to create the Louisville Waterfront Park Lincoln Memorial. The memorial features a young Abraham Lincoln reading a book. The exhibition will features early clay sculptures of the piece, plaster models, drawings, and the 12-foot final models of the Lincoln sculpture, as well as early sketches of the panels of bas-relief sculptures depicting scenes of slavery and Lincoln’s extraordinary life.
