Mark’s Feed Store redefines the meaning of competition this fall with the “Back to School Wing Eating Contest.” Held on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 5 p.m., the contest will feature a variety of Middletown principals and school representatives, trying to eat their way to the top for the pride of their school. The contest will take place at the Mark’s Feed Store in Middletown, located at 11422 Shelbyville Road. Middletown schools who have signed on include Hite Elementary, Eastern High School and Middletown Elementary.

Louisville Metro Youth Detention Services will host a stuffed animal drive from August 1-31 to benefit Kosair Charities’ “Bears on Patrol” Program. Individuals wishing to donate to the drive, may drop off any new or gently used stuffed animals to the center at 720 West Jefferson Street. The drop off box is located in the front lobby and is accessible 24 hours daily. For general information regarding the drive, please contact Louisville Metro Youth Detention Services at 574-6177.

Body Wellness, a physical fitness program for adults who have lost muscle tone and flexibility or for persons who are recuperating, is taught from 10-10:45 a.m. and again from 10:45-11:30 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive. The class fee is free to Wellness Center members; $4 per class or $40 for 10 classes for non-members.

In conjunction with the nation-wide celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s Bicentennial, this exhibition will take you on Louisville artist Ed Hamilton’s artistic journey to create the Louisville Waterfront Park Lincoln Memorial. The memorial features a young Abraham Lincoln reading a book. The exhibition will features early clay sculptures of the piece, plaster models, drawings, and the 12-foot final models of the Lincoln sculpture, as well as early sketches of the panels of bas-relief sculptures depicting scenes of slavery and Lincoln’s extraordinary life.
