Named one of “Indiana’s Top Ten Festivals”, the 38th Annual Swiss Wine Festival takes place Aug. 27-30, 2009 at Paul Ogle Riverfront Park in Vevay, IN. Along with food, arts & crafts, midway rides, fireworks, parades, live entertainment, beer garden and riverboat cruises, the affair showcases contests and events throughout the four-day event. Canoe races, corn hole tournaments, cheerleader competitions, steintossen, basketball jamborees, a poker run and a road rally are just a few of the activities held during the event.

Through engaging imagery, artifacts, portraits, and Lincoln’s own words, Beyond the Log Cabin: Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln presents the untold story of his lifelong engagement with Kentucky and Kentuckians and the relationships that shaped his life, helped to pave the way for his political rise and, during the Civil War, kept Kentucky in the Union. Taking a broad view of Lincoln, this exhibition explores the complex relationship between Abraham Lincoln and his native state.

In conjunction with the nation-wide celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s Bicentennial, this exhibition will take you on Louisville artist Ed Hamilton’s artistic journey to create the Louisville Waterfront Park Lincoln Memorial. The memorial features a young Abraham Lincoln reading a book. The exhibition will features early clay sculptures of the piece, plaster models, drawings, and the 12-foot final models of the Lincoln sculpture, as well as early sketches of the panels of bas-relief sculptures depicting scenes of slavery and Lincoln’s extraordinary life.
