University of Wisconsin-Madison professor, Carolyn Kallenborn, will be presenting her fiber artwork in the Patio Gallery at the Jewish Community Center of Louisville (JCC). Kallenborn’s exhibit “Sanctuary” has been inspired by the improvisational and interactive altars that she has seen during her time in Oaxaca, Mexico and will be on display Aug. 23-Oct. 13.

This exhibition consists of 25 rare, unusual and landmark motorcycles manufactured between 1900 and 1970. In addition to the motorcycles, memorabilia and accessories, “Wind in Your Hair -Vintage Motorcycles” will include visual artists’ interpretations of the freedom, movement and exhilaration that motorcycles have represented in our society and culture. KMAC will also present a series of restoration and customizing workshops, lectures about collecting motorcycles and the cultural influences of motorcycles in the 20th & 21st centuries.

Through engaging imagery, artifacts, portraits, and Lincoln’s own words, Beyond the Log Cabin: Kentucky’s Abraham Lincoln presents the untold story of his lifelong engagement with Kentucky and Kentuckians and the relationships that shaped his life, helped to pave the way for his political rise and, during the Civil War, kept Kentucky in the Union. Taking a broad view of Lincoln, this exhibition explores the complex relationship between Abraham Lincoln and his native state.

In conjunction with the nation-wide celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s Bicentennial, this exhibition will take you on Louisville artist Ed Hamilton’s artistic journey to create the Louisville Waterfront Park Lincoln Memorial. The memorial features a young Abraham Lincoln reading a book. The exhibition will features early clay sculptures of the piece, plaster models, drawings, and the 12-foot final models of the Lincoln sculpture, as well as early sketches of the panels of bas-relief sculptures depicting scenes of slavery and Lincoln’s extraordinary life. The human form as a theme in glass art of all kinds is the subject of an exhibit at Flame Run contemporary art glass studio from February 6 to March 28. An opening night reception begins at 6 p.m. The show called “The Human Formed” was inspired by the work of Susie Slabaugh White, who owns the studio and hot shop with her husband, Brook White. Susie said she hatched the idea when she noticed human forms as a recurring theme in the work of glass artists she admired.

Flame Run contemporary art glass studio is marking the arrival of its newest resident artist – Jonathan Capps -- with “Glass Connections,” an exhibit that celebrates the studio’s friendships and connections to glass artists at Centre College and around the world. The show opens Oct. 3 and runs through Nov. 15. An opening reception begins at 6 p.m. on Oct. 3.
