Learn to slip simple changes into your daily routine through “Active Living Every Day,” a 12-week program from the Cooper Institute in Dallas focusing on making behavior changes leading to increased physical fitness. Free orientation sessions are 10 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive near the Mall St. Matthews. Classes begin the following week on Feb. 15 at either 10 a.m. or 6:45 p.m. The program is aimed at those who are inactive, but need to get moving.

Flame Run contemporary art glass studio will showcase the work of its nine resident artists from February 5 through March 26, 2010. An opening night reception will begin at 6 p.m. “The Usual Suspects” includes the work of owner Brook Forrest White Jr., Susie Slabaugh, Paul Nelson, Paul Hugues, Tiffany Ackerman, Mike Hudson, Jon Capps, Bryan Holden and John Stokes.

These two young artists continue to innovate new ways of working with glass and the kiln. Chappell & French both work for Architectural Glass Art, the founding company of Louisville Glassworks but, are also known for their street art. In this exhibit, both influences of street sub-culture and refined techniques of kilnformed glass will collide to create a beautifully rich, graphic, and textured exhibition. Experience the greatest survival story of all time on the four-story tall screen as you join polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton on his now legendary 1914-1916 Trans-Antarctic Expedition aboard the ship Endurance. The film follows three climbers retracing the historic steps of Shackleton and his crew and includes the original still photography and 35mm motion-picture footage of Frank Hurley, the official photographer for the Endurance expedition.

Beginning on January 11, the Louisville Visual Art Association (LVAA) will offer an eight week session of life drawing classes with live models on Monday nights from 6PM – 8:30PM. This basic life drawing class provides the perfect opportunity to enhance your skills when drawing from life. Beginning with short poses and working to long poses, you will be capturing the figure in the stunning atmosphere of the historic Water Tower's Grand Hall. Classes will be taught be well-known artist and instructor Claudia Hammer and will be held at the Louisville Visual Art Association, 3005 River Road.
