Make your own art glass chip and dip bowl. Each student will make their own tray by layering decorative components on top of a base piece of glass. The glass will then be formed in to a functional piece of art. No previous glass working experience is necessary. Piece may be picked up one week after class or shipped for an additional $15.

The American Cancer Society’s prostate cancer education and support group, Man to Man, helps men cope with prostate cancer by receiving information and peer support. Free family art workshop held the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10 am-12 pm. At our March 13 workshop, we will be making Braille Bugs, ladybug-shaped doorknob hangers with the bug's "spots" (glued-on beads) spelling out each child's name in Braille. Beginning the week of March 2, the Baptist Hospital East Cancer Care Center will offer a Cancer and Restorative Exercise (CARE) group session for those diagnosed with cancer in 2009. In the program, personal trainers specially instructed in working with cancer patients will design a workout for each participant. The groups workout at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive. The cost is $200 which includes 20 visits and a three-month Wellness Center membership.

Louisville native, William M. Duffy, will be presenting his figurative and abstract sculptures in the Patio Gallery at the Jewish Community Center of Louisville. Beginning the week of Jan. 18, the Baptist Hospital East Cancer Care Center will offer a Cancer and Restorative Exercise (CARE) group session for those diagnosed with cancer in 2009. In the program, personal trainers specially instructed in working with cancer patients will design a workout for each participant. The groups will workout at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive. The cost is $200 which includes 20 visits and a three-month Wellness Center membership.

Come learn the fun, ancient, and beautiful art of fusing and slumping glass. Utilizing heat, gravity, and time students will create an array of fused and slumped creations. This is a great class for people interested in learning the technical basics of kiln working. Learn about scoring glass, melting temperatures, annealing, and many more technical tips. Tools and materials will be provided; however if students have glass cutting tools they are comfortable with they are welcome to bring them. No previous glass working experience is necessary.

Learn a heat-free way to work with glass. In this two part class you will create an abstract design using small pre-cut pieces of glass. Invasive plants spread easily into these native plant communities and into our gardens and break the unique bond that plant communities and wildlife share. Bernheim is taking control of the noxious plants that are invading the natural forest and arboretum, and we need your help. Join an elite group of heroic weed wizards that participate in our Weed Police workdays and help Bernheim’s biologists and horticulturists conserve and restore healthy plant communities by removing invasive plants.
