"The Method Gun" explores the life and techniques of Stella Burden, actor-training guru of the 60s and 70s, whose sudden emigration to South America still haunts her most fervent followers. Ms. Burden’s training technique, The Approach (often referred to as "the most dangerous acting technique in the world"), fused Western acting methods with risk-based rituals in order to give even the smallest role a touch of sex, death and violence. Do you have a fear of speaking in public? Learn how to develop and improve your public speaking skills. We’ll focus on the fundamentals of public speaking, including speech outlines, vocal variety, using visuals aids, and relaxation strategies. Students will give short speeches and critique each other in a non-threatening atmosphere.

Instructor: Graham Honaker is a certified Toastmaster who gives numerous speeches per year. Graham has won several public speaking contests in the Louisville area.

Beginning the week of March 2, the Baptist Hospital East Cancer Care Center will offer a Cancer and Restorative Exercise (CARE) group session for those diagnosed with cancer in 2009. In the program, personal trainers specially instructed in working with cancer patients will design a workout for each participant. The groups workout at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive. The cost is $200 which includes 20 visits and a three-month Wellness Center membership.

Learn to slip simple changes into your daily routine through “Active Living Every Day,” a 12-week program from the Cooper Institute in Dallas focusing on making behavior changes leading to increased physical fitness. Free orientation sessions are 10 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive near the Mall St. Matthews. Classes begin the following week on Feb. 15 at either 10 a.m. or 6:45 p.m. The program is aimed at those who are inactive, but need to get moving.

These two young artists continue to innovate new ways of working with glass and the kiln. Chappell & French both work for Architectural Glass Art, the founding company of Louisville Glassworks but, are also known for their street art. In this exhibit, both influences of street sub-culture and refined techniques of kilnformed glass will collide to create a beautifully rich, graphic, and textured exhibition.
