"The Method Gun" explores the life and techniques of Stella Burden, actor-training guru of the 60s and 70s, whose sudden emigration to South America still haunts her most fervent followers. Ms. Burden’s training technique, The Approach (often referred to as "the most dangerous acting technique in the world"), fused Western acting methods with risk-based rituals in order to give even the smallest role a touch of sex, death and violence. A play about the ecstasy and excesses of performing, the dangers of public intimacy and the incompatibility of truth on stage and sanity in real life.

An out-of-character one-night stand spills into 7 weeks, 4000 miles and 6 cups of coffee as two strangers question the calculated lives they lead and contemplate the uncertain world that might be. A sly comedy about how getting off course can put you on the right track. "Phoenix" is part of the 34th annual Humana Festival of New American Plays at Actors Theatre of Louisville.

Beginning the week of March 2, the Baptist Hospital East Cancer Care Center will offer a Cancer and Restorative Exercise (CARE) group session for those diagnosed with cancer in 2009. In the program, personal trainers specially instructed in working with cancer patients will design a workout for each participant. The groups workout at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive. The cost is $200 which includes 20 visits and a three-month Wellness Center membership.

Learn to slip simple changes into your daily routine through “Active Living Every Day,” a 12-week program from the Cooper Institute in Dallas focusing on making behavior changes leading to increased physical fitness. Free orientation sessions are 10 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 at the Baptist East/Milestone Wellness Center, 750 Cypress Station Drive near the Mall St. Matthews. Flame Run contemporary art glass studio will showcase the work of its nine resident artists from February 5 through March 26, 2010. An opening night reception will begin at 6 p.m. “The Usual Suspects” includes the work of owner Brook Forrest White Jr., Susie Slabaugh, Paul Nelson, Paul Hugues, Tiffany Ackerman, Mike Hudson, Jon Capps, Bryan Holden and John Stokes.

These two young artists continue to innovate new ways of working with glass and the kiln. Chappell & French both work for Architectural Glass Art, the founding company of Louisville Glassworks but, are also known for their street art. In this exhibit, both influences of street sub-culture and refined techniques of kilnformed glass will collide to create a beautifully rich, graphic, and textured exhibition.
