21c Museum unveils three pieces by Simen Johan that have never before been on public view in a ten-year survey of the artist’s work. The two photographs and one sculpture to be displayed for the first time are new additions to Johan’s "Until the Kingdom Comes" series. The exhibition features 21 photographs and sculptures—including works from the artist’s earlier series "Evidence of Things Unseen"—and will be on view at 21c Museum Hotel from July 2 through October 4.

During the Louisville Visual Arts Festival: Glass 30 and the Intl. Glass Artist Society Conference, Glassworks is excited to bring you a glass exhibition like no other before. From graffiti to hot rods to fashion, all things of urban culture will be examined through glass objects and installations. Co-curator, Slate Grove of Penland School of Craft, will organize a Hot Rod street event, which will feature Glassworks’s very own Juicy Lucy: The Blowin’ Hot Rod.

Flame Run Glass Studio and Gallery will celebrate the work of Ben Edols and Kathy Elliott, the Australian couple whose reclining leaf series and other signature blown and cold-worked collaborations have won international acclaim. Melting the Cultural Fringe: an Exploration in Glass of Contemporary (Sub)Culture

Flame Run Glass Studio and Gallery’s upcoming exhibit, “Centre College & Friends,” celebrates Stephen Rolfe Powell, who is a seminal figure in contemporary glass art in Kentucky, and also celebrates a wide-ranging group of artists Powell mentored over the last 25 years while he built the Centre College glass program. The show runs from June 4 through July 30. An opening night reception begins at 5 p.m.

This exhibition features work by local and national neon and glass artists. Part of the Louisville Visual Arts Festival and in celebration of the Glass Art Society annual conference. The human form as a theme in glass art of all kinds is the subject of an exhibit at Flame Run contemporary art glass studio from February 6 to March 28. An opening night reception begins at 6 p.m. The show called “The Human Formed” was inspired by the work of Susie Slabaugh White, who owns the studio and hot shop with her husband, Brook White. Susie said she hatched the idea when she noticed human forms as a recurring theme in the work of glass artists she admired.
