Learn the 13 Posture Hand Form created by fourth-generation Yang family descendant, Master Yang Zhenduo. This form is an excellent one for beginners, seniors, or anyone wishing to explore the benefits of Yang Style Tai Chi. Movements are easy to learn and perform, yet they retain all the principles and important movements of the traditional long form. Seniors can especially benefit by gently building strength, flexibility and balance.
Gain an introduction to the Horton technique, a dance style often incorporated by major dance companies. The class also covers modern dance forms such as Graham and Limon technique and Afro-Caribbean dance influences. The Graduate Record Examination is required for admission to many graduate programs across the country. This class reviews mathematical concepts and covers strategies for taking the verbal sections of the test. A sample GRE exam will be given and reviewed as final preparation for the exam.

This beginner's class covers the basic picking technique, how to tune the mandolin, the most important mandolin chords, how to play easy melodies and much more, including the enjoyment of making music! During this new class, you’ll experience the delicious taste of foods in forms close to the ones in which they grew naturally from the earth. During field trips to a large conventional grocery store and a natural foods store, you’ll practice wise label reading and optimum food selection.

Peter Gooch's inspiration for this most recent body of work comes from his University Research Institute sponsored sabbatical taken in Ethiopia in 2009. Gooch’s stunning abstract work consists of series of strips of paintings that playfully shift in light, color and form embodying Gooch's impressions of the decorative motifs found in ancient Ethiopian art, artifacts and architecture. Contrasting the organic nature found within each of the individual strips is their geometric application, creating subtle tension and intrigue between the jumps in palettes.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host “Equine Divine” from August 7 through October 16, 2010. Fitting for an organization in the heart of the horse industry, this exhibition will feature work by two artists, Deborah Butterfield and Tim Flach, who are inspired by our equine companions. There will also be a small selection of equine inspired prints and drawings from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and The Purdue University Galleries. The opening reception will be held in conjunction with the First Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, August 6th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host “Red River: The Narrative Carvings of Edgar Tolson, Donny Tolson, Carl McKenzie and Earnest Patton,” July 24 through October 9, 2010. This is exhibition No. 9 in the Mary Norton Shands Kentucky Artist Series, an ongoing series of exhibitions which focus on the rich variety and quality of Kentucky art and artists, presented in the memory of our Museum founder. 21c Museum unveils three pieces by Simen Johan that have never before been on public view in a ten-year survey of the artist’s work.
