Floyd Central High School Theatre presents "Teahouse of the August Moon"

Two days of exceptional art, wine, food and music. Located along the Ohio River in Downtown Historic Rising Sun, Indiana. First-rate art such as painting, photography, pottery and jewelry to handmade furniture, woodwork, musical instruments and fine crafts featuring artists from all over the country. The Rising Sun Festival of Fine Arts and Crafts offers art lovers 2 days of fantastic art amongst the charming historic buildings and flowered streetscapes of beautiful Historic Downtown Rising Sun.

Instructed by local Glass Artist Mark Payton This two-day class covers the basics of working with rods of glass in front of a torch. Learn how to make our own collections of flameworked glass beads made with Moretti Glass (soft colorful glass from Italy). The first day begins with a safety and equipment overview followed by leaning how to layer and shape the glass. During the second day you learn the core decorative techniques of dots, wrap, and pulled patterns. Minimum 3 students. You’ll be carried away to the heights of doo-wop heaven with songs like “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Rag Doll,” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

The Brown Hotel invites classical music lovers to enjoy Sunday Tea in the Grand Lobby. A weekly tradition at The Brown Hotel, the Sunday Classical Hour is free to the public from 4:00 to 5:00 pm and features Ms. Nada Loutfi playing the music of the greatest piano composers. Ms. Loutfi is a native of Beirut, Lebanon, and a heralded pianist in her homeland. She is the founder of the Purely Piano series and has been a featured soloist of The Louisville Orchestra's MasterWorks Series and performs internationally.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host “Equine Divine” from August 7 through October 16, 2010. Fitting for an organization in the heart of the horse industry, this exhibition will feature work by two artists, Deborah Butterfield and Tim Flach, who are inspired by our equine companions. There will also be a small selection of equine inspired prints and drawings from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and The Purdue University Galleries. The opening reception will be held in conjunction with the First Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, August 6th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host “Red River: The Narrative Carvings of Edgar Tolson, Donny Tolson, Carl McKenzie and Earnest Patton,” July 24 through October 9, 2010. This is exhibition No. 9 in the Mary Norton Shands Kentucky Artist Series, an ongoing series of exhibitions which focus on the rich variety and quality of Kentucky art and artists, presented in the memory of our Museum founder. The opening reception will be held Friday, July 23rd from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

21c Museum unveils three pieces by Simen Johan that have never before been on public view in a ten-year survey of the artist’s work. The two photographs and one sculpture to be displayed for the first time are new additions to Johan’s "Until the Kingdom Comes" series. The exhibition features 21 photographs and sculptures—including works from the artist’s earlier series "Evidence of Things Unseen"—and will be on view at 21c Museum Hotel from July 2 through October 4.
