In the late 1960s Richard Langdon left for India to study with wise men. While there, he saw all the local kites and family kite making. Mr. Langdon later moved to a farm in Crawford county Indiana and made kites, incorporating his family into the business. In the early 1980s Jim Keown met up with Richard and they became fast friends. As the family retired, Jim started designing and working more closely with Richard. Today their kites are made in a barn in English, Indiana. Remember: one sky one world!

To commemorate National Public Lands Day, the Natural Areas division of Metro Parks, Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana and Metro Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh are hosting a volunteer event at the Beargrass Creek Greenway at Irish Hill on Saturday, September 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers should gather that day at the entry point to the 38-acre park, located at Lexington Road and Grinstead Drive. The cleanup will include portions of the Greenway behind the Girl Scouts’ local headquarters, less than a quarter-mile away.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host “Equine Divine” from August 7 through October 16, 2010. Fitting for an organization in the heart of the horse industry, this exhibition will feature work by two artists, Deborah Butterfield and Tim Flach, who are inspired by our equine companions. There will also be a small selection of equine inspired prints and drawings from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and The Purdue University Galleries. 21c Museum unveils three pieces by Simen Johan that have never before been on public view in a ten-year survey of the artist’s work. The two photographs and one sculpture to be displayed for the first time are new additions to Johan’s "Until the Kingdom Comes" series. The exhibition features 21 photographs and sculptures—including works from the artist’s earlier series "Evidence of Things Unseen"—and will be on view at 21c Museum Hotel from July 2 through October 4.
