Cold connection techniques including hand-forged rivets, tabs and jump rings will be utlized to connect pieces of metal as well as other materials for creating one-of-a-kind jewelry such as pendants, earrings or bracelets. You'll use a jeweler's saw to cut shapes out of copper and brass sheet and learn simple ways to add texture and form for surface interest. This class will utilize readily available tools and materials so you can continue to make jewelry at home
Explore the fundamentals of drawing using dry (charcoal, graphite) and wet (ink) monochromatic media. You also will study the visual possibilities of contour, mass, proportion, light and shadow as well as the expressive potential of their materials.
Discover what good poetry is by analyzing great poems and using them as stepping stones to write your own. We’ll examine classic poems by classic writers new and old. Equal time will be spent between studying great poetry and reading and discussing each other’s work. Please bring paper, pens, pencils and a favorite poem to the first class.
This introduction to the Spanish language covers basic vocabulary, grammar, and cultural information. No previous knowledge of Spanish is required or expected.

The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host “Equine Divine” from August 7 through October 16, 2010. Fitting for an organization in the heart of the horse industry, this exhibition will feature work by two artists, Deborah Butterfield and Tim Flach, who are inspired by our equine companions.
