Learn to do the Balboa, a close, playful dance popular in the 1930's! This is what Bal Looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYg-eoUYfDc
Classes are every Tuesday in November from 8-9pm at Absolute Dance 3900 Shelbyville Rd. Suite 16. Come 15 minutes early and stay 15 minutes late for practice and feedback.
The Beginntermediate level is not only for pure beginners but is also for people that have a basic understanding of balboa. We will be covering break turns (come arounds), break timing, cross overs, lolly kicks (lollies, kicks in-and-out), and throw outs (toss outs). This will be an informative level for the more seasoned beginner. Pure beginners don’t be scared…after all of these classes (and dances) you will be very comfortable with Balboa.
We will also strive to teach a better understanding of the connection within these basic movements. By the end of the series this level will have added variations to their basic, to their pure Balboa movements (ad-lib steps), and will have added more movements to their Bal-Swing repertoire.
Best of all, by the end of the series you will be ready for and invited to a bal-only party and invited to join us for a free live music event where you will be able to practice your balboa and have your instructors around to help and practice with you.
Lesson costs include rental of space and club insurance. For the full 4 weeks series (November 6th,13th, 20th, 27th) It’s $40 for non- LSDS members and $35 for LSDS members. Drop in classes are available for folks who are comfortable with their Bal Basics and only want one or two classes. Drop ins are $10 for LSDS members and $15 for non-members. Please bring your LSDS members card with you when registering.
