The 35th Annual Old Louisville Holiday House Tour is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 3-4, from noon until 6 pm. This year’s tour is presented by the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council/OLIC and features eight Old Louisville mansions including the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, plus the Woman’s Club of Louisville.
Advance discount tickets are on sale now through December 2. Tour tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the tour and can be purchased at the Old Louisville Information Center, Old Louisville Visitor Center, online at www.holidayhousetour.com or by calling (502) 635-5244.
The 2011 Holiday House Tour begins with complimentary parking at Cochran Elementary School, 5th & Lee Streets. Shuttle van transportation is available from the parking lot to the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, 1402 St. James Court, where all tickets are picked up in the basement Gift Boutique. Shuttles run continuously on the house tour route.
The beautiful 1895 Conrad-Caldwell House Museum on St. James Court is a star attraction on the tour and includes a fantastic Gift Boutique in the basement. Christmas and Hanukah shoppers alike will find great holiday gift ideas and seasonal goodies at the House Tour’s Gift Boutique.
The DuPont Mansion, owned by Gayle and Herb Warren, located at 1317 South Fourth Street will feature the Christmas spirit of Alfred Victor DuPont reciting the Ogden Nash classic, Jabez Dawes, The Boy Who Laughed at Santa Claus. Performance times are every half hour beginning at 1:00 pm each day.
During the tour, The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum will host a high Victorian Tea each day with seatings from 11:30 am until 4:00 pm. The Tea will feature English teas and a tasteful sampling of savories and sweets reminiscent of holiday teas in the 19th century. The food will be prepared by David Dominé, The Bluegrass Peasant, and served by the Conrad-Caldwell House Museum Volunteers. Entertainment will be provided by harpist, Nancy Stagner. Tickets are $20 each in advance and $25 day of tour. There are 30 seats available at each of the four seating times daily, 11:30 AM; 1:00 PM, 2:30 PM, and 4:00 PM. To purchase tea tickets, call the Old Louisville Information Center at (502) 635-5244. Proceeds benefit The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum.
