The Jefferson County Chapter joined Kentuckians For The Commonwealth in 1983. Thirty years later the chapter hosts 2,000 members from all over Louisville, Oldham County and across the bridge in Southern Indiana. While actively supporting all of KFTC’s statewide campaigns, our members have worked on local campaigns around coal ash, economic justice, affordable housing, police abuse, sweat shops, hazardous waste reduction and recycling.
We are celebrating our chapter's 30 year history with a Birthday Bash on Saturday, June 22nd at the Tim Faulkner Gallery in Butchertown. The event will be emceed by John Gage and Laura Shine and will feature live music by Jonny Sands & Paul Braun, Joel Henderson, The Blacktop Farmers, Ted Stevens & The Third Rail, Hunter & Dian (The Bad Reeds Acoustic), Kathleen Hoye, Leigh Ann Yost, Tristen Brook, Nellie Pearl, Joan Shelley, Beady, The Nick Dittmeier Band, and John Gage & Friends.
The Birthday Bash will also feature testimonials from KFTC members, a live art demo, family-friendly activities, KFTC information stations, and a raffle. The event takes place from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., rain or shine. There is a $10 suggested donation for individuals and $12 for families. Food will be available for purchase from Louisville Food Truck Association vendors Moe-Licious BBQ and Reds Comfort Foods. A cash bar will also be available.
