Explore The Coming of Age of the American Politic with author and activist Winona LaDuke
7:30 pm The Coming of Age of the American Politic with Winona LaDuke Kentucky International Convention Center 221 South Fourth Street Free and open to the public Winona LaDuke is an Ojibwe community organizer, economist and author who lives and works on the White Earth reservation in northern Minnesota. She was the Green Party's Vice-presidential candidate in 1996 and 2000. Join us in this frank discussion exploring the view that the precepts of America are largely founded on the notion of conquest, and of a frontier. Neither of these notions is sustainable, and at the same time America has reached the end of its frontiers — economically, in terms of natural wealth, and in terms of a consciousness of empire. LaDuke will explore the notion of empire, the naming of America, and sacred lands while also providing examples of grassroots, indigenous and rural reclamation of relationship to place and to the future. This event is part of the 13th Annual Festival of Faiths.
