Fresenius Medical Care Sponsors Culinary Tour to Introduce Delicious New Kidney-Friendly Cuisine for Restricted Diets
Chef Aaron McCargo, Jr., sponsored by Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), is embarking on a tour of four U.S. cities during March in recognition of National Kidney Month. McCargo – host of the Food Network show “Big Daddy’s House” – will visit FMCNA clinics in each city to meet with dialysis patients and their families to share kidney-friendly cooking tips, food samples and recipes developed in collaboration with FMCNA dietitians. He will also unveil a new recipe in each city, influenced by that region’s cuisine. More information is available at www.ultracare-dialysis.com/kidneymonth.
McCargo will share kidney-friendly cooking tips, food samples and recipes with dialysis patients and their families at two Louisville FMCNA dialysis clinics. He also will unveil a recipe he created for Louisville food enthusiasts, influenced by the region’s own cuisine.
There are an estimated 26 million Americans with chronic kidney disease (CKD). CKD is a progressive, usually permanent loss of kidney function. Many people who have CKD are still in the early stages of the disease, but by the time CKD leads to kidney failure, or end-stage renal disease (ESRD), the only treatments are a kidney transplant or dialysis.
On Wednesday, March 27, McCargo will be at Fresenius Medical Care Southern Indiana from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. He will be at the Fresenius Medical Care Masonic Homes, located in the Sam Swope Care, Center from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. McCargo will also be conducting a live cooking demonstration from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Olmsted on the Masonic Homes of Kentucky Louisville Campus.
