February 17-19 Lakeside Seahawks Swim Club will host 10 regional Teams to help feed the need. Lakeside is not only creating Olympic athletes, they are instilling in their athletes the importance of giving back to the community by collecting cans from swimmers and fans to benefit Dare to Care Food Bank!
This is their second year of partnership with the Food Bank. Last year was a “winner” can collection (235 pounds of food) but they are hoping for a “Champion” collection for 2012! Each swimmer is encouraged to bring TWO cans! Executive Director of the Dare to Care Food Bank, Brian Riendeau states: “Only with this community’s continued support will Dare to Care be able to meet its goal this year of getting 15 million meals to struggling, Kentuckiana families. We are excited that the Lakeside Seahawks and Yum! Brands are providing this special opportunity for folks to support us. “
Not only has Lakeside developed 9 USA Olympians, ranked 10th nationally in the “virtual” rankings of swim clubs and is a Gold Medal Team of Excellence since 2004--BUT they are also committed to giving back to those less fortunate in our community. Their goal is to develop champions inside and outside of the pool!
