Gardeners in the Louisville area can once again enjoy the JCMGA’s Lessons Learned Garden Tour Series.
In keeping with its mission of gardening education and service, the theme of the August garden tour is “Grow An Organic Vegetable Garden In Your Backyard”. Master gardeners Russ Stevens and Laura Peot will show how they are changing their backyard into a successful vegetable garden using organic growing techniques. They will provide tips on soil care, organic techniques, and care and maintenance of the garden.
Besides showing an exceptional and successful garden, Russ and Laura and other master gardeners will be on hand throughout the day to teach and answer questions about gardening using the featured garden as their classroom. They will provide information about the garden's design and history, its plants and care, as well as share stories about successes and failures, making recommendations on things to try or not.
Participants on the tour are encouraged to bring pictures of spaces they are landscaping, ask questions and get suggestions for a real hands-on and personally rewarding experience!
Tickets will be sold at the garden from 9am until 3pm. Tickets cost $5; proceeds of the Garden Tour will be used to fund the JCMGA's volunteer gardening and community education projects.
The garden will be available for touring any time throughout the day.
