This event will further support the mission of empowering girls community-wide as it will encourage participation by all Louisville high school girls and the adults in their lives. Spalding University will host the event at their University Center Building located at 824 South 4th Street Louisville, KY on Sunday April 21, 2013 from 2 until 6 pm.
The goal of the Girls IdeaFestival is to develop creative and innovative solutions to challenges girls face today. In particular the event will focus on creating ideas; to change the way girls are portrayed by the media, to develop healthy relationships, to teach girls how to become more civically engaged, to expand girls’ economic opportunities, and to eliminate human trafficking.
According to Nicole Nemec, high school senior and Chair of Louisville Girls Leadership, “This event was created for girls by girls which gives it the unique quality of being fun and educational. It is going to be the type of experience that leaves girls feeling educated and excited about the future."
This event is part of the 2013 Give a Day Mayor's Week of Service. Falling on the last day of this week of giving, adults interested in volunteer at the Girls IdeaFesitval can email the volunteer coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
