Matt Anthony pulls his favorite musician friends behind the turntables the first Saturday of every month for Rock Star DeeJays. For March Christy O'Connell & Johnny Siegel of the Junk Yard Dogs.
The Junk Yard Dogs play sweaty, dizzily sexy True School R&B. Valkyrie like... lead singer Christy O'Connell wails, channeling Soul divas of the past. Johnny Seigel cut his teeth on the guitar jamming with the Meters, Derek Tucks, and Bernie Worrel. His first ever band, Jonas Risin, would be the legendary New Orleans Tipitina’s house band at the beginning of the century. Their DJ set promises to be on some heavy funk.
Matt Anthony works for 91.9 WFPK Radio Louisville hosting two radio shows The Friday Night Sound-Clash and The Jazz Pulse. He's usually the DJ at Rock shows, now he turns the tables on his musician friends, getting them to spin records with him. Matt loves nothing more than a packed and sweaty dancefloor.
The Mag Bar on 2nd & Magnolia is the favorite hang out for Louisville's musicians. With it's legendary jukebox and punk rock vibe it topped Leo's favorite "dive bar" list. The Mag Hosts Louisville's most insane dance party Get Down Weds w/ Sleepy T and WFPK's Woody spins vinyl, diggin' for American Rarities on Thurs. Rock Star DeeJays adds first Saturdays to Mag Bar's forever party. Just look for the neon in the window. 21 & over with $3 cover
