A tale about racism, competition and ethics
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – “The Story,” by Tracey Scott Wilson, opens the fall season for the University of Louisville’s Department of Theatre Arts. Presented by the department’s African American Theatre Program, the play will be performed Oct. 1-5 at 8 p.m. nightly plus a 3 p.m. matinee on Oct. 5. Wilson’s murder mystery challenges the audience to examine their own assumptions about the media, stereotypes, political correctness and personal ethics. Directed by Nefertiti Burton, associate professor and director of international programs for the College of Arts & Sciences, the play explores the blurring of reality and truth as an ambitious newspaper reporter goes against her editor to investigate the brutal murder of a white man in a black neighborhood.
