Join us as we dance the night away in celebration of another great year of programs at La Casita and toast to more successes to come! This year’s second-annual fundraiser will be an even bigger blowout than last year.
Hosted by special guest Dawne Gee of WAVE-3 news, Summer Salsa Night will feature both a silent and a live auction with exciting services, tickets, gift certificates, and items by local businesses and community members. Local Latin bands Cosa Seria and Appalatin will provide music, and guests will have the opportunity to take salsa lessons before hitting the dance floor! Guests can also remember the evening by getting their picture taken for free in a photobooth courtesy of Magnolia Photo Booth Co.
We are proud to feature delicious appetizers by Louisville’s premier Latin chefs at the Mayan Café, Seviche: A Latin Restaurant, Havana Rumba, Palermo Viejo, and Cake Flour. There will also be a cash bar and an after-hours salsa bar by Taco Punk.
Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door.
The schedule of events is as follows:
7pm – 8:30pm Cocktails, appetizers, silent auction, and live music by Appalatin
8:30pm Live auction
8:45pm – 11pm Salsa dancing lessons with Tim Kelty and live music by Cosa Seria
All proceeds from ticket sales, winning auction bids, and donations will go towards sustaining and expanding La Casita’s programs to engage and empower Latina women and their families.
Since its beginnings in 2006, La Casita has reached hundreds of Hispanic/Latino families. Today, La Casita Center facilitates the Latina Women’s Movement, a network of women’s groups engaged in education, advocacy, wellness, and mutual support, as well as our Sembradoras program to empower community members in sharing knowledge and resources, our Hombres Unidos men’s group, the Encuentros community meeting series, and Peña cultural open-mic nights.
We work to enhance the health and well-being of Louisville’s Hispanic/Latino families, and we envision a thriving, non-violent community that welcomes and appreciates its Hispanic/Latino members.
