Paul Ogle Riverfront Park on Ferry Street in downtown Vevay, IN, will be the location of an Easter Eggstravaganza on Saturday, March 30, 2013. The event is free and open to the public.
Festivities begin at 10:00 a.m. with a mini parade and a Tri Kappa Cake Walk. At 10:30 a.m. youths can meet the Easter Bunny, Sparky the Fire Dog, Andy the Ambulance and McGruff.
Easter egg hunts will begin at noon, with participants asked to provide their own Easter basket. Searches will be divided in three age groups: 2-4 years; 5-7 years, and 8-10 year olds.
Contests will take place throughout the event including the Best Decorated Bike, Best Decorated Wagon, Best Decorated Golf Cart, Best Bicentennial Spirit Bonnet and Most Extravagant Easter Bonnet.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the YMCA located at 735 Hwy 56 in Vevay.
The Frisch Marionettes will present their “Variety Show” at the Historic Hoosier Theater at 209 Ferry Street on March 30. There will be two shows beginning at 10:30am and 1pm. All aspects of a Frisch production are designed, created and recorded in their own workshops. Each puppet is hand-carved with custom tailored costumes fashioned for each character. The troupe incorporates all styles of puppetry into their performance, with the main emphasis on the marionette.
Tickets for the Frisch Marionettes are $5 each and are available at the Switzerland County Visitors Center located at 128 West Main Street in Vevay, or at the theater box office on the day of the performance.
The Eggstravaganza is co-sponsored by Switzerland County Tourism, Jeff-Craig Fire and Rescue, Switzerland County EMS, the Key Club and Tri Kappa. The tourism office is also a sponsor of the Frisch Marionettes.
