Continuing his yearly tradition of celebrating the tomato harvest of local farmers, chef John Castro of Winston’s restaurant is proud to announce the menu for the 2011 seven-course heirloom tomato dinner. The event features a tasting and discussion of “naked” tomatoes that will educate the palate on the iconic summer flavors. Castro has worked with local producers for years to bring the best heirloom tomatoes to Winston’s, and he will offer four opportunities for guests to experience the dinner during the first two weekends in August. The dinners take place on Aug. 5, 6, 12 and 13 and begin at 6 p.m. with optional cocktails, followed by dinner seating at 6:30 p.m. The price is $75 per person, or $100 with wine pairings.
