Locust Grove names new Program Director
Posted on April 25, 2008
Although Mary Beth Williams began her new job on April Fools Day, her job as Program Director at Historic Locust Grove is anything but a joke. The Louisville native graduated from Seneca High School; has a History degree from Bellarmine University and a Master’s in Art History from the University of Louisville.
At 26 years old she has already worked at or interned with most of the museums in town, such as the Brennan House, Farmington, Frazier International History Museum, the Conrad-Caldwell and interned at Historic Locust Grove and was Weekend Manager before landing a full-time position with the Kentucky Historical Society. She also interned at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History while working on her master’s degree.
At the KHS she was Project Assistant for the Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition. She sought out Lincoln artifacts to borrow for the exhibit which opens in October.
Mary Beth’s duties at Locust Grove include school tours, coordinating the volunteers, programming, working with the Costumed Interpreters and special events. In her spare time she likes to knit.
Mary Beth said she is “looking forward to helping Locust Grove develop this exciting new phase as we move into the future.”
Historic Locust Grove is located at 561 Blankenbaker Lane between Brownsboro Road and River Road and is open seven days a week. For more information, call 897-9845 or visit our website at www.locustgrove.org
