Varla Jean Merman returns to Bomhard Theater for another great big dollop of campy, kitchy, crazy hilarity. When we tell you this show is a drag, we don’t mean it’s dull. If you saw Varla Jean here two seasons ago, you won’t want to miss out. And if you missed that incredible performance, you CAN’T miss out again! Varla Jean looks like Rita Hayworth, sings like Julie Andrews and vamps like Mae West. To put it simply, he’s quite a guy.

Louisville-based performance artiste and drag impresario DEMENTIA will host the The Very Worst of Varla Jean Merman post-show party at the 21c Museum Hotel following Varla’s performance in Bomhard Theater. There will be light hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, DJ music and spectacle as only DEMENTIA and her cast of characters can provide.

Last Performance of Cirque du Soleil's "Saltimbanco"

Start: 03/15/2009 - 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm
End: 03/15/2009 -
Location: Freedom Hall
Address: 937 Phillips Lane
City: Louisville
State: KY
Phone:
Price: $20-$80
Description:

Saltimbanco -from the Italian "saltare in banco", which literally means "to jump on a bench"-explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and likenesses, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. Between whirlwind and lull, prowess and poetry, Saltimbanco takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city.

Saltimbanco is a Cirque du Soleil signature show inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colorful inhabitants. Decidedly baroque in its visual vocabulary, the show's eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world, an imaginary city where diversity is a cause for hope.
