Learn to grow some tasty, organic fruits and vegetables...in your own backyard!
Spring has finally sprung...despite the 45 degree temperatures outside. Knowing that warmer weather looms near, I can't help but feel anxious over the mud-pit disaster that is my backyard right now. My last foray into gardening was a tomato plant that resulted in my poor husband doing most of the work, because I am the girl who can barely keep plastic plants alive. Luckily, 15Thousand Farmers is holding a beginner's basic gardening workshop this Saturday. This workshop will teach you the "Square Foot Gardening Principles" and goes from 9:30-10:30 in the morning at Mama's Hip on Bardstown Road. While the workshop is geared towards adults, participants are welcome to bring their children. 15Thousand Farmers is an local organization that helps to "create, empower and inspire" neighborhood based, organic farming. Their hope is that through grass-roots education and awareness, the people of Louisville will be able to feed their families and others from backyard gardens. Pre-registration for the workshop is required. For more information, or to register, go to the 15Thousand Farmers website.
