Friday is almost here and that means another exciting night of high school football in the Louisville area. Here is a look at some of the top games this week.
Central at Ballard
Central is off to a 1-1 start. The Yellowjacketts feature one of the city's top juniors, running back Anthony Wales. Wales got off to a hot start in Central's first game against Seneca, when he rushed for 339 yards. He followed that performance up by rushing for 158 yards a two scores against Lafayette.
Ballard, 1-1, nearly pulled off a shocker last week when they nearly defeated St. Xavier, the state's No. 1 team. A failed two point conversion at the end of the game game St. Xavier the 34-35 win. Ballard wide receiver DeVante Parker if off to a hot start this season. The University of Louisville commit caught six passes against Pleasure Ridge Park in the season opener, for 179 yards and a touchdown. He followed that performance up by catching eight passes against St. Xavier, for 127 yards and two scores.
Prediction: The Bruins really impressed me last week against St. Xavier. I think they win this one 42-21.
Eastern at Butler
Eastern, 0-1, lost a heart breaker last week, as they fell to Male 28-35. The Eagles feature one of the state's top prospects in Jon Davis. The 6-foot-3, 235 pounder can play several different positions on the field. Last week he carried the ball 15 times, for 66 yards and a touchdown. He also caught three passes, for 52 yards. He must be productive for the the Eagles to be successful this season.
Butler, 1-0, defeated Byran Station last week 21-13. The Bears got a lot of production from their running back Tony Overall. Overall carried the ball 32 times, for 147 yards and two scorers.
Prediction: Eastern should bounce back from last week's loss. Eastern 35 Butler 21.
Fern Creek at Seneca
This game is exciting because it features four future University of Louisville Cardinals, Fern Creek Jerrell Moore, Jamon Brown, Jalen Harrington and Seneca's DaMarcus Smith. Fern Creek took a pounding last week and the Tigers will try and bounce back. Moore scored two touchdowns in the loss but he was the only bright spot in an otherwise off game for the Tigers.
Smith hasn't put up huge numbers so far this season but he has led the Redhawks to a 2-0 start.
Prediction: Seneca 45 Fern Creek 21
Trinity at Manual
Trinity was impressive last week, as they defeated Indianapolis Lawrence North 56-23. Sophomore quarterback Travis Wright completed 17-20 passes, for 190 yards and a touchdown. he also ran for a scorer.

Prediction: St. Xavier 45 Lexington Catholic 14
Male at Western
The Bulldogs feature two of the city's top running backs, junior Ronjae Morris and senior John Giddens.
