With the Louisville Zoo's World's Largest Halloween Party [3], school parties, trunk or treats, and various other Halloween-related festivities around Louisville, your child will get more wear out of his or her costume this year than you ever did of your flame retardant boxed Ace Frehley [4]outfit from the late ‘70s. Another place for your kids to wear their costume is the Louisville Palace [5]on Saturday October 23 when the Louisville Orchestra presents its annual orKIDStra Halloween Spooktacular concert.
Part of the YUM! Family Series, orKIDStra allows families to explore classical music together with family-themed programming. Spooktacular begins at 11:00 A.M., and discovery activities sponsored by Family Allergy & Asthma begin at 10 A.M.
Conductor Jason Weinberger leads the orchestra through some not so scary orchestral favorites. The orchestra will be joined on stage by the University of Louisville [6] Dance Academy and the Louisville Ballet [7] Youth Ensemble ... and your child, if they so desire, as the kids march across the stage in a convoy cavalcade of costumes.
Spooktacular is the first of three themed Saturday morning concerts in the series. You can subscribe to the series for $41. Each concert will include pre-show activities. Spooktacular is a general admission show, and it should run about 45 minutes without an intermission.
Tickets are $15. For more ticket and series information, see the Louisville Orchestra [8]'s website.
