Calvin "Snoop Dogg" Broadus will be at Horseshoe Casino Thursday October 20, 2010 at 8 p.m. The last time I saw Snoop was on the Martha Stewart show. What? That's right. He was baking brownies with Martha Stewart. Later that same night, his "man cave" design was on the DIY network. That seems like a far cry from the Snoop Dogg I grew up hearing from the cars in my high school parking lot from friends who liked things a little more "gangsta".
According to his website, Snoop Dogg is currently touring the the casino circuit because he wants to see the faces of his fans and let them know "he is still F--kin' with them". Although Snoop got started in gangsta' rap by relieving a lot of anger within him, he has mellowed out some and begun to appeal to a wider audience. In 2009, Snoop signed a deal with MTV to launch a new label venture that also resulted in his television show "Dogg After Dark" and some of his music being available in the Rock Band video games. Snoop's ventures don't stop with music. He currently has about 17 or 18 I-phone applications available, including one that puts his voice into your GPS. A visit to his "Snoopermarket" reveals an array of clothing items, accessories and collectibles. A visit to his "extras" page will give you access to a good variety of wallpapers and ringtones, while joining "Uncle Snoop's Army" will give you a chance to win a pair of his Skullcrusher headphones.
Something many people may not know about Snoop is that he is also a youth football coach and founded the Snoop Youth Football League, which allowed him to create a safe place for inner city kids to spend free time.
