[1] Shakespeare comes to Actors Theatre through Walden Theatre's Young American Shakespeare Festival, which opens tonight.
Walden Theatre and Actors Theatre will present the Young American Shakespeare Festival between tonight and May 22. Othello, Twelfth Night, and Antony and Cleopatra are to be presented during the festival's run at various times. A complete schedule is on the Walden Theatre website. All shows will go on at the Victor Jory Theatre inside Actors Theatre, located at 316 West Main Street [3] in downtown Louisville.

Antony and Cleopatra [5] will lead off the festival tonight at 7:30 p.m. Marc Antony is one of three rulers of the Romans and has chosen to live a life of debauchery with Cleopatra in Egypt. Power issues and a sense of duty come to Antony when he hears of Pompey preparing an army to take down the Roman leaders. Alec Volz directed the production.
Love, jealousy, and deception are at the heart of Othello [6], which will be performed on May 14, 15, 17, 20, and 22. Othello is an outsider, a Moor, who rose through the military ranks in Venice and is now a respected general. However, his love for wife Desdemona will soon be exploited by Iago, an ensign, Charlie Sexton directed the production.
Twelfth Night [7] features a love triangle as well as cross-dressing and will run on May 13, 15, 18, 21, and 22. Viola has disguised herself as a young man, Cesario, and eventually becomes a page to Duke Orsino. While as a man, Viola falls for Orsino and Olivia, a woman Orsino loves, has fallen for Cesario aka Viola. J. Barrett Cooper directed the production.
