Some of the best songs from Broadway and beyond will be heard and performed in Broadway Knights, which opens this weekend at Bellarmine University.
Broadway Knights shows will go on Oct. 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29 at 8 p.m. each night. A show on Oct. 23 will take place at 7 p.m. All performances are to happen in the Cralle Theater, located in the Wyatt Center for the Arts on the Bellarmine University campus. The campus is located at 2001 Newburg Road in the Highlands section of Louisville.
Tickets for each show are $12 for general admission, $6 for students, and $6 for seniors. (Keep in mind Oct. 22's show is sold out.) All remaining tickets will be sold at the door. More information on the show can be found at the Bellarmine University theatre arts website.
Broadway Knights is a collaboration between Bellarmine's theatre and music departments which features plenty of singing and dancing to famous Broadway show tunes. Songs come from a wide range of shows, including South Pacific, The King and I, Les Miserables, and Young Frankenstein, among others. Plenty of classic ballads and show-stopping numbers will be involved as well. Songs also to be performed include Matchmaker, Something Good, and Defying Gravity.
The show is unique compared to other musical revues as not all the singers will dance and not all dancers will sing.
Carlos Chavarria directed and provided choreography for Broadway Knights. Timothy Glasscock also provided musical direction.
Following Broadway Knights, the theatre department will continue its 2011-2012 season with See If I Can Find It, an evening of one act performances. The performances will take place in November.
Other shows to come this season including Five Women Wearing the Same Dress and Madthematics. More information on Bellarmine University's 2011-2012 season can be found in this article .
