Local comedian, musician, producer and promoter Bryan Kennison has several events with great line ups in coming weeks.
Local comedian Bryan Kennison has been tearing up the Louisville scene lately by putting himself out there as a promoter of events involving comedy or comedy venues. He's been doing comedy for three years but recently began putting together shows and promoting them. He originally began to develop a knack for promotion when he was a vocalist, guitarist, and bassist in a band at the age of 19. He's taken an interest in comedy since then, working independently and temporarily in the IMPROV offices in FLorida while still recording music with his current project, Aviator. It's a wonder that he has time to build large audiences for comedy events, but his hard work has paid off.
He's hosting showcases, open mics and ...a movie night?
Every Thursday night, he hosts "The List", which he calls Louisville's number one comedy showcase, showing off different comedians every week at the Comedy Caravan, beginning at 9:30 p.m. The cover is $2. It didn't look like this show would survive at first, only pulling in eight guests an evening. The show now has a weekly attendance between 60 and 120.
On January 30th, he is kicking off the first ever Comedy Caravan movie Monday, which will showcase local films. The premiere movie will be The Last Summer, a raunchy comedy by locals Jason Saint and Derek Sturgeon. Mike Nusser will be doing music for the pre-show and Kennison will be opening with comedy. Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5.
Coming up on February 10th, Half-Baked: The Halfway to 4:20 Comedy Showcase Celebration promises to tickle funny bones at the Mag Bar at 10 p.m. There is no cover show for this great line-up: Tyler Jackson, Mark Parris, Lindsay Boling, Kent Carney, Sean Keller, and Kennison.
