Where can you taste great food and give a helping hand to those in need? The answer can be found at the Third Annual “Taste of South Louisville” on Saturday, September 8th at Bellarmine University.
“This is such a fun event for our community” says Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21). “The South Louisville Community Ministries do important work for many people in need, and this is a major fundraising event for them.”
With the great assistance of area restaurants and businesses, the “Taste of South Louisville” will offer an evening of fun, food and fellowship from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Bellarmine’s Frazier Hall.
Rubbies, Jimbo’s BBQ, First String Grill and Pub, Thornberry’s Deli, Tuscany, Vietnam Kitchen [3], Shack in the Back BBQ, Flavor Catering, Havana Rumba [4], El Nopal [5], Chick Fil A, Sunergos, 7UP and Snapple, Pit Stop BBQ, and Valumarket [6] are among those businesses participating in this year’s event.
“The people of South Louisville already know what delicacies we have in our area,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13). “Now, everyone will see that you can go many places in South Louisville to find great food.”
“South Louisville Community Ministries has a great mission in our area and they need our help to continue their good work,” says Councilwoman Marianne Butler (D-15).
Joining Johnson, Welch and Butler as sponsors of the event are Council members Rick Blackwell (D-12), David James (D-6), David Yates (D-25) and President Jim King (D-10).
"Once again our friends at Metro Council have given us their support. There seems to be a wonderful history of this, without which, we probably could not operate,” James Laemmle, Executive Director of the South Louisville Community Ministries. “Without help from these individuals, we would be in a struggle for survival, and for providing basic human services to the impoverished in the South End of Louisville".
There will also be a silent auction during the event. Among the groups donating items are: University of Louisville [7] Athletics’ department, Cincinnati Bengals, ESPN, Bellarmine University, Holiday World, Kentucky Derby Museum and Churchill Downs, Mega Cavern, Springhurst Tennis Club, The Louisville Bats, Noah’s Ark Winery, and many more. . .

Tickets are available at many local churches and at the door on the evening of the event. $12 for a single ticket, and $20 per couple. For more information about the Third Annual “Taste of South Louisville, contact Jim Laemmle, 361-7763.
