Who wouldn't enjoy a plethora of unique cocktails on a snappy Autumn afternoon, outside one of the swankiest restaurants in town? Nothing quenches one's thirst for the fantastic and alcoholic like a cocktail swirled with Bourbon. This Sunday, Old Forrester is sponsoring Louisville's First Annual Cocktail Competition in the parking lot of Rye on Market. Some of our city's most impressive bartender will be matching their talents for an afternoon of libations and healthy competition.
Master mixologists from Poof on Main, Rye, The Silver Dollar, La Coop, Meat, Garage Bar, Doc Crow's and St. Charles Exchange will vie for the win. The cocktails will be judged on the basis of creativity, taste, presentation and seasonality. These cocktail conquistadors will be required to present their take on one of the Bourbon based, Kentucky centric cocktails: The mint julep (traditionally made with mint leaf, Bourbon, sugar and water), the old fashioned (whiskey, simple syrup or sugar cube, bitters, orange slice, cherry), and the Seelbach (Bourbon, Cointreau, bitters, champagne).
the competition will begin at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 15, 2012, at 900 East Market Street in the Rye parking lot. Admission is $10.00, which includes one drink ticket. Subsequent drink tickets at the event are $6.00, or $20.00 for four drinks. You can get a full list of who is competing, here as well as your "Spirits Passport" which you can print out and present at any of the participating restaurants, and every time you buy a special drink you get a stamp! Five stamps on your passport means free admission and a free drink!
