As you attempt to stay warm and dry this weekend, you might want to duck inside Clodhoppers . The boutique will play host to Nashville, Tenn.-based fashion house Leona, who will be holding a trunk show for their autumn and holiday collections from Friday through Sunday. Hors d’ouevres and libations will be served while you shop the collections, and attendees will receive a free gift with any Leona purchase.
Leona was founded by Lauren Leonard in the autumn of 2007, with her first collection debuting in the spring of 2008. Since then, her pieces have been seen in publications such as Lucky, The New Yorker and People, and on television programs such as “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “E! News” and “Gossip Girl.” The Tuscaloosa, Ala.-born designer creates every piece herself, all of which is manufactured in the United States with an attention to quality. Leona interprets style through the eyes of a Southern belle, combining charm and sex appeal through bold coloring and prints, while also maintaining accessibility – pieces go from $120 to $350 – and the kind of quality that will see many seasons to come.
For the autumn and holiday 2012 collections, Leona reflects upon its signature soul as the fashion house celebrates its 10th season. For inspiration, Leonard turned to American model Colleen Corby – who found fame as a teen model in the 1960s – for her autumn looks, where blues, pinks, oranges and browns meet modern interpretations of Corby’s style. Regarding the holidays, Leonard stays in the era but turns up the heat by channeling the spirit of Bridget Bardot . Expect to see ruby, scarlet, emerald, amethyst and ivory at Leona’s Parisian Christmas party, with the Bardot dress – a piece known for its drop waist, deep V back and high boat neckline – as the center of attention.
