Following up on their 12/12/12 'Get Folked' show right here at the Unc, YOUNG HEIRLOOMS returns to Louisville with their a new take on the evolution of folk music. With a focus on creating cerebral, well-composed music, the Cincinnati-based quintet is set out to mix your emotions with a wall of sound. Expect a choir of vocal harmonies similar to that of a Brian Wilson record. With songwriting influenced heavily by todays artists like Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes, theirs is original music at its best: beautiful, lulling and honest. They blend a new element of shoegaze with melodic theatrics to create something truly new and inspiring. Joining them once again are Louisville's own JONATHAN MITCHELL (Blunt Honey), who does double duty with the recently formed super-group NELLIE PEARL, comprised of members from Blunt Honey, Local Villains, Hangdog Hearts, and now joined by new-Villian indie writer and vocalist Rachel Monroe. A subtle blend dubbed 'Progressive Folkana' that musicians from across the board have created together, this new music brings a level of satisfaction like a clear starry night on a Wyoming plain.
