HAPPY CHICHESTER - cd release show
Oh, yes...we are quite ready to be hangin' with the Happy. Hailing from Columbus, Ohio's uber-vibrant music scene, Harold 'HAPPY' CHICHESTER - founding member of Royal Crescent Mob, Afghan Whigs, The Twilight Singers and Howlin' Maggie - is now a full-fledged solo artist and he's hittin' the road with his third solo album, Torchwood Loop. Due to release on March 12, this particular project takes advantage of Happy’s prodigious chops on keyboards, guitar, bass and drums (a first love at the tender age of 7), as well as his continued evolution as a songwriter and arranger. Named after the Columbus street on which Happy grew up, recorded in his home-studio and released on he and wife Laura's PopFly label, Torchwood weaves elements of electronic, pop, folk, Latin, rock, R&B, and classical music, as well as video games, field recordings, and Muzak. To wit, a highly eclectic outing -- he can flat-out play the blues and throw down some Jerry Lee, too -- that seems to defy any attempt at labeling. From “three chords and a cloud of dust” blues and high-octane funk, moody rock or Latin with a twist to something far more eclectic with the new release...from opening in Europe for Seattle band Brad or playing with (former Miles Davis bassist) Foley and his 20-piece group...simply put, the man is a trove.
