A Cotton Patch Gospel is a story of the birth of Christ set in the modern day South and set to bluegrass music. Taking place in Georgia, Jesus's life is explored from birth, growing up, and through a pilgrimage to Atlanta. The bluegrass music that follows the story is from a live band featuring local musician Lee Cable.
Tom Key and Russell Treyz created the production with music and lyrics from Harry Chapin. Kathy Norton directed A Cotton Patch Gospel for Hayswood Theatre.
Following A Cotton Patch Gospel, Hayswood Theatre will present See How They Run. That production will have auditions on March 9 and 10 . More information on the shows can be found at the Hayswood Theatre website.
