No, it’s not Derby time… but it’s getting close! With less than 6 months to go until the 2009 Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs has opened back up for its fall meet for horse racing fans. Head on out to the track to sharpen your betting skills!
Fridays of November 7th, 14th and 21st marks the return of Friday Happy Hours! From 3-5 PM each Friday afternoon, enjoy $2 hot dogs and select beers at the track!
Sundays of November 2nd, 9th, 16th & 23rd, fans can join in on the “Who’s the Champ” handicapping contest.
Saturday, November 8: The first 5000 fans through the gates will receive a Calvin Borel “Cajun Jockey Glass”. Borel was atop Street Sense, the winner of Kentucky Derby 133. Gates open at 11 am. $3 admission.
Saturday, November 15: The first 5000 fans through the gates will receive a Robby Albarado “Cajun Jockey Glass” Albarado is the regular rider of Curlin, the richest thoroughbred in North American history. Gates open at 11 am. $3 admission.
Saturday, November 22: The first 5000 fans through the gates will receive a Kent Desormeaux “Cajun Jockey Glass”. Desormeaux is a 3-time winning jockey of the Kentucky Derby, including this year’s Big Brown. Gates open at 11 am. $3 admission.
Senior Days are Tuesday, Nov 11 & Wednesday, November 26. Senior guests can enjoy a day at the track on Millionares Row 4. For a cost of $19.50, enjoy a table buffet, Millionares Row seat and racing program! Reservations Required, call (502) 636-4400 to stake your spot!
Thanksgiving Day is open at Churchill Downs! Guest will enjoy a full Thanksgiving menu and reservations are required! Tickets are $48 for adults and $25 for children. To make reservations, please call (502) 636-4400 before they sell out!
November 28-29 marks the closing weekend of the fall 2008 meet. Fans can enjoy the Triple Crown room with bloody mary bar with individual tickets
Suite Sundays are also available in the jockey club suites for 12 people and include catered luncheon, full bar, racing program and other amenities.
And, just think, once the fall meet closes, it’s only 153 days until Kentucky Derby 135! Let the countdown begin!
