The Filson Bourbon Academy is becoming a bourbon culture institution. It’s not just in Louisville anymore- they’ve been to New York and Cincinnati with plans to visit Michigan and Oregon, just to name a few. Filson Bourbon Historian Mike Veach has become somewhat of a rock star in the bourbon world. If you haven’t read his book, Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey: An American Heritage , yet, I recommend picking up a copy.
As with all things happening in Louisville during Derby time, the Filson Bourbon Academy is pulling out all the stops to make this a truly special event. Instead of being held at the Filson Historical Society, this one will be held at 21C Hotel and Museum on Main Street in downtown Louisville. It’s worth noting that this isn’t going to be the full Filson Bourbon Academy schedule, but rather is being billed as a Kentucky Bourbon Tasting Experience led by Mike Veach. It will take place Tuesday April 29 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tickets will be $200 per person.
This event will include six tastings from three Kentucky distilleries, as well as signature cocktails from Brown-Foreman- A Woodford Julep and an Old Fashioned. All this will be paired with scrumptious appetizers from the amazing chefs at Proof on Main.
Tickets are expected to sell out quickly, so get them soon (click here ). There will be a lot of people from the bourbon world in attendance for this one. There will be people from The Filson Historical Society, Brown-Foreman, and The Bourbon Review , just to name a few. This is another great way to earn your standing as a Citizen Bourbon Ambassador- try new bourbons, learn about their distilleries, and ask historians and representatives all your burning bourbon questions.
Nothing says Louisville like the Derby and Bourbon. Get out there and live it, Citizen Bourbon Ambassadors!
