Zach's weekend picks for Louisville: Kentucky Music Weekend, The Wailers and 'Food, Inc.'

"Food, Inc.," which was released last year and finally comes to Louisville this weekend when it plays at the Village 8 [3], "lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA." The Wailers perform the legendary album Exodus Brown-Forman Amphitheater River Road July 24, 6-10:59 p.m. The group renowned for its work with Bob Marley will be playing what Time magazine called the best album of the 20th century at Louisville's Waterfront Park [4]. Zach Deputy, who the hippie girls loved in the parking lot at Bonnaroo, opens. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Ticketweb [5]. Kentucky Music Weekend Iroquois Amphitheater 1080 Amphitheater Road July 24, 7-11 p.m. and July 25, 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Celebrate Kentucky's rich musical heritage through the sounds of banjos, fiddles, guitars, dulcimers and vocal harmony at Kentucky's "premier folk festival" [6] (a title the state legislature bestowed upon Kentucky Music Weekend in 2000; clearly it had spare time in its session having already solved all of the commonwealth's problems). Jerry Tolson Quartet Jazzyblu 815 W. Market St. July 24, 8 p.m. Louisville's new jazz club [8], at the site of Louisville's old jazz club, features the Jerry Tolson Quartet playing standards, contemporary originals and Latin sounds on Friday nights.
