It may not have Liza herself, but the rest of what you expect from the classic from the stage is there.
CenterStage at the Jewish Community Center presents "Cabaret" beginning Thursday, January 14 at 7:30 P.M. Directed by John R. Leffert, this raucous, racy musical (made into an Oscar-winning film starring Liza Minnelli in 1972) takes the audience onstage and behind the scenes at the Kit Kat Klub, a decadent fantasy world nestled in the dark corners of Weimar Berlin at the turn of the 1930s. Singer Sally Bowles, her lover Cliff Bradshaw and the devilishly inviting Emcee trace the ideological shift of Germany and its fall to Nazi forces through their relationships and performances, including "Two Ladies," "If You Could See Her" and "The Money Song."
Tickets are $20, or $16 for JCC members, students and seniors, with a limited number of rush tickets available for $10 for selected evening performances. For more details and a full schedule, call 459-0660 or visit the JCC box office, 3600 Dutchmans Lane.
